OUR STORY

Crunch Time is a multi-media platform that produces original content, graphics and recorded podcasts focused on sports. Crunch Time was founded in March 2020, in the first week of the Covid pandemic, by Sam Rothenberg and Mikey Capobianco, then ninth graders, to keep themselves occupied and to explore a shared passion for sports and journalism.

Crunch Time was initially established as an Instagram site to share original content – opinions, “takes” and intriguing questions, oriented to “in the moment” sports topics and all presented with original graphics.  Crunch Time quickly evolved to include recorded content released to the public as a companion podcast which is available on nearly all major platforms including Spotify and Apple. Crunch Time podcasts have featured interviews with amateur and professional athletes, sports-related entrepreneurs and notable sports journalists. Crunch Time podcasts also regularly feature original episodes during which Sam and Mikey explore or debate timely sports topics.

What began as a way to stay busy in an environment where school was conducted virtually, after school sports and activities were suspended and hanging out with friends was impossible, has evolved into a widely respected platform, and provided Mikey and Sam with the ultimate training camp for how sports intersect with business and journalism. It has also helped them appreciate the immense joy and satisfaction that come from working really hard to create and grow something about which they are passionate.

Crunch Time continues to be entirely owned and operated by Sam and Mikey. It is currently run as a not-for-profit undertaking but commercial opportunities have been considered and remain a possibility!!
